Justin's Monthly
Service Tip!
The filtration unit is one
of the most important pool components. If
the filtration unit is not working properly,
the pool water becomes unbalanced and cloudy.
Also, the life of the motor shortens due
to excess pressure created from an inefficient
filter. If you have a cartridge media filter,
we recommend that you wash it out at least
every couple of weeks. However, if you are
using excess chemicals or fighting an algae
problem, you should clean it weekly.
If you have a sand filter,
you need to backwash it once a week. The
amount of time you backwash is determined
by how dirty the sand is. After you backwash,
make sure you rinse before you put it back
to the filter setting. Make sure to turn
the pump off when you are adjusting these
settings in order to prevent a leak from
occurring. If the pressure does not return
to where it should be, try backwashing again
for a little longer.
If that still does not work,
a sand change may be needed. The sand needs
to be changed every 2-3 years if you are
using a biguanide sanitizer, and every 4-5
years if you are using chlorine.
If you have any questions,
please contact one of our store locations
in Columbus or Auburn. Also, plan to visit
the stores to get preventative chemicals
that will prolong the efficiency of the
filter.
